Do you constantly struggle with chronic constipation? Here’s what can help.

Most of the time when people come to me for their nutritional requirements one of the biggest areas that we end up focusing on is Bowel health! So many people today suffer from chronic constipation, or severe conditions of colitis, irritable bowel, rare cases of colon cancer due to lack of ONE THING: FIBRE. 

I’ve talked all things fibre and whyyyy it is the most important thing that you should be focusing on in your daily diet. Hear me out.

I wanted to help you understand how you can get more fibre into your diet, daily. Since you read my blog, you’re getting the information first hand from me. 

Simple suggestions for increasing your daily fibre intake include:

  • Eat breakfast cereals that contain barley, wheat or oats.
  • Switch to whole-meal or multigrain breads and brown rice.
  • Add an extra vegetable to lunches and dinners.
  • Snack on fruit, dried fruit, nuts or wholemeal crackers.

A daily intake of more than 30 g can be easily achieved if you eat whole grain cereal products, more fruit, vegetables and legumes and, instead of low-fibre pies, cakes and biscuits, have nuts or seeds as a snack or use in all meals.

You do not need to eat many more calories to increase your fibre intake. You can easily double your fibre intake without increasing your calories by being more selective with your choices. Make smarter switches, rather than opting for a refined carb based cookie, choose a fruit, not only are you reducing the caloric count you are ensuring you get nutrients too. Also, rather than having white bread which would have about 0.2 gms of fibre, switch to whole grain which has about 2gms of fibre. So nearly 10 times the amount. That’s a fair share, isn’t it?
